October 2023 brings challenges in different forms.  The first challenge is this month's blog post challenge.

I will be posting every day (at least, trying every day) as a part of the challenge.  Today is the first day, so this is my first post.  (Yes, I know... cheesy!)

Looking Ahead...

These highlighted dates are the most significant for me, so I will be using this mode of media as a self-healing and self-love tool.  I am learning to love myself so I can love my family and friends more.  As the name of my website suggests, I am Seeking Self-Love, and along the way, I hope to help you find your own path to self-love.

01 October

18 years ago, today, my oldest son (Iris Dieyes) and I met my current husband.  Neither of us knew how much our lives would change after meeting him.  Bear and I have dubbed this date our "family-versary", so every year, we celebrate the day we became a family.

03 & 05 October

My future daughter-in-law's birthday and move-in dates!  Rory joined our family officially when she moved in.  We include her in our family-versary and this is the first one we get to celebrate!

12 October

This day is bittersweet - a challenge in a different sense.  I share this day with my father in a way I didn't think I ever would.  I once celebrated my life every year, all month long!  I still try to because I feel blessed to see another year!  However, in 2019, my father passed away.  I was there with my brothers as we watched him in his last moments.  My heart shattered that day, and every year, I never know how I'm going to feel.  This year is no different.  Although, I am learning that it is possible to feel more than one emotion simultaneously, and those emotions can conflict sometimes.

My birthday cake is always a mango cake because the last birthday we spent together, we wanted to try a mango cake, so it's stuck.

29 October

This day is my father's birthday.  This is the day my family and I agreed to honor and remember him.  They wanted to do this, so it did not take away from my birthday.  Unfortunately, it doesn't take the pain away from the day I lost him.  I miss him.

31 October

Halloween is what everyone calls it.  All Hallow's Eve, Samhain, is one of the eight major seasonal festivals in Paganism.  It is considered the Witch's New Year!  So Happy New Year!  May the new year and season bring many blessings!

Coming Soon!

Plans, which I hope to come to fruition this month, are in various stages.

I have a journal in review to be published in hardback and paperback formats.

I am planning to start a Discord Server for Mental Health.  The main idea is playing Disney's Dreamlight Valley while chatting with others who also play the game.  It is in its infancy stages and I have some squirrels that will be helping run the server.

Final Thoughts:

October is important in my family, and I struggle with the challenges it brings.  The challenges I face regularly are balancing home, work, and academics.  I am doing my best to love myself, and this journey of healing myself is important.  Thank you for joining me along the way!

    1. Thank you! Our idea came when we planned our wedding date. We separated our wedding day from our family-versary as a way to celebrate the union with my oldest.

  3. I am very sorry for your loss, Rosary. I can relate. For many years I shared my exact birthday with my Grandmother. It's March 2nd. The last time we did so was when she turned 99. I was so excited for the birthday to come, and she almost made it, but she got weaker and weaker and just dozed off. Birthdays haven't been the same for sure.

I love how you say "my son and I met my husband" ♥

    Good luck with the challenge!
