Progress, Perfection, Failure

 What's Happened?

In the last week, I have failed to keep up with the challenge.  I missed it all because I got sick.  Aside from trying to figure out what's going on with me medically, I caught a cold that affected me worse than a cold ever has.  I had to reschedule appointments this past week because I couldn't keep my eyes open for more than an hour.  My husband and children supported me and helped with everything they could while I was down.

Progress Over Perfection

I dealt with feeling guilty about not posting or preparing any blogs for the past week.  Every day that passed without a post, I felt more defeated.  Then I remembered what Paul Taubman, the creator of the Ultimate Blog Challenge, told me during my first challenge.  He told me I still had time to catch up or use it as a break day.  It helped ease my anxiety about the challenge because I told myself I had to perfect it by posting every single day of the month to properly complete the challenge.

When the creator of the challenge told me to give myself more grace and it wasn't a requirement to post every day to be successful at the challenge, it gave me a fresh perspective on other things in my life. I grew up thinking perfection is success, and if I'm not perfect, I have failed.

Failure is quitting!

I've realized failure comes from quitting.  I am not quitting.  I am continuing this challenge and accepting it will not be perfect. I could go back and write content for the days I missed, but that would cause more stress on myself.  Why would I do that when I'm promoting self-care and self-love?

 Rest is Medicine

As I'm still waiting on answers to find out what is going on with me medically, I'm learning that resting when necessary is the best medicine.  I have to break the habit of pushing beyond my limits.  Even machines need to recharge their batteries.

I haven't failed this challenge because I haven't quit!  I missed some days, but life happens, and we have to take things as they come sometimes.  The goal is to complete the challenge, not perfect it.

  3. Your health is more important than anything! I've seen some bloggers post two days of blogs on the same post to catch up. But don't worry about "missing" a day or so, get better!
